Spring’s First Whisper: A Nudge to Start Fresh

It’s the first weekend of spring—feels like a shift, doesn’t it? And it’s not just spring—Lent and Ramadan are overlapping too, like the universe is tapping us on the shoulder, saying, “Hey, have a think.” Everything lining up like this isn’t random—it’s a chance to pause and ponder where we’re at.

Spring’s a signal to invest—plant now, harvest later. Lent and Ramadan nudge us to reflect, to check our direction and how far we’ve come. We pick our paths, and progress is the aim—standing still’s rarely the answer (unless you’re dodging a black bear in Alaska, mind). So if you’re wondering where to begin, here’s my three-step nudge for the year ahead.

1. Take Stock
Start simple—just like a shop tallying its shelves. Look back at what you’ve pulled off. Maybe it’s surviving a grim winter, or maybe it’s landing that second interview or finally getting the keys to your dream place. Then spot what lifts you. Could be tiny—a new game you’re chuffed about—or bigger, like a cracking view out your window. Even on rubbish days, there’s something. A sunrise, a fresh morning—proof you’ve got a new shot at things, brimming with possibility.

2. Write a List
You know me—lists are my thing. They pin down the vague stuff swirling in your head. Don’t just scribble and call it done, though. First, dump every wild hope on a page—then rip it out and chuck it. That was your warm-up, a daydream stretch. Now pick one thing from it. Break it into steps—small, clear ones. Make sure step one’s doable today. Cross it off straightaway. Starting with a win sets the tone—keeps it real, not overwhelming.

3. Find a Spark
“Do something inspiring” sounds bossy—let’s call it a moment instead. I’ve got this window at the back of my flat. On a crisp spring day, I can see the mountain sharp against the sky, the sea just beyond. Summer’s too hazy, but now? Perfect. I’ll stand there with a hot coffee, soaking it in. Most days I don’t—kids, work, the usual rush—but in spring, I make time. It’s a breather, a reminder there’s a world out there. Now’s when you sow, commit, and set up for rewards down the line.

So, grab a pad, a pen, a cuppa—it’s time to prep for what’s coming.
